Term Three Mihi Whakatau

All the children who started school since term 2 week 2 were formally welcomed to Halswell school today in our Mihi Whakatau.

A Mihi whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming, introductions, openings and for other events which take place off the marae.

Mihi = to greet

Whakatau = to settle something into place; like a leaf gently falling into place We all enjoyed our welcome ceremony today.  We all enjoyed the ceremony today.
