Play

In our normal school timetable, Ahuriri children are involved in learning through play throughout the day. This is where children have the free choice to take their play in any direction they choose.  We sometimes put out equipment to provoke the children’s ideas.

Chalk Paint

This is a fun one!

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles.
Everyone loves bubbles, have a look at this link and try making your own!

Move like animals

Use your imagination to move like animals to get from one spot to another.  Here are some ideas: Walking like a gorilla, running as fast as a cheetah, waddling like a penguin, walking sideways like a crab, creeping like an inchworm. You could always take a photo and share with your teacher.

Dens
What could you make a den out of at home? Think about using a variety of different things to create your den. Can your whole family fit inside? Could you sit and do something quietly in there?

Farmyard/Outdoor garden
Create a farmyard or outdoor garden using things you find from around home.

Draw Ted

Maybe you could try to draw a bear with the How To Draw link.

Engineering Challenges:
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math, and activities involving these fields have a huge impact on kids. Even the simplest STEM activities provide numerous opportunities for kids to learn and explore STEM.

This is such a cool site, with ideas that use lego, junk, and a whole lot more. You can build and engineer with items that you have in your house.

Kids Baking provides a great opportunity for the practical application of maths:
